When your help's not wanted...

Friday, October 1, 2021

Most of you have been in a place where you have offered to help someone, but have been rebuffed, or rejected, or ignored.  And likewise, you yourself, may have rejected an offer of help from someone who has only your best interest at heart. Each situation, of course, is different. How are we to respond in situations like these? There is a rather harsh but common phrase out there, ‘ Mind your own business,’ or these days, it is said as, MYOB.

This can be hurtful to hear, and will certainly throw cold water on any enthusiasm to help. Allowing for help seems to imply that one is not capable of helping oneself. Ego loves this and could have a feeding frenzy of self-righteousness, pride, and judgements, either as a giver who is rebuffed, or as the receiver who rebuffs the offer of help. Do we hear that self-indulgent song,”I Did it My Way” echoing through?

If you have turned inward to Me and have felt the call to help someone you love, and have proceeded to offer that help, you have followed spiritual guidance, dear one, even if that help has been rejected. You’ve offered with loving intent, now let it go. Let your true and right feelings come from having listened and followed My guidance, even if your help was rejected. Perhaps your offer has been a catalyst for the other to examine him or herself, and why he or she is so entrenched against accepting help? God alone knows the reasons, but love is always working for the good, for renewal, and for redemption there — for you, and for the other.

I offer My love and My help to you, dear one. Do you open to it or do you dismiss it and reject it? Open to Me and feel the transforming power of living love helping you, releasing you from separation, and guiding you forward there. I am here for you, offering the greatest love and friendship you could ever have! I love you dearly, and know that you are never alone.

My Best Friend

You hold the rank of Leader,

In our relationship,

I lean on you for guidance,

Releasing ego’s grip.

I come to you in peace, Lord,

Head bowed in reverence, there,

I wait in patience listening,

Knowing that you care.

Knowing you as I do, Lord,

What truth you bring to me,

To live a day without you,

Would be insanity.

You are so fundamental,

To who I really am,

Without you I’m an orphan,

A lost and lonely lamb.

My Leader, Parent, Savior,

As Shepherd, to me, you tend.

I know you there most fully,

As simply, my best Friend.

Today, I come before you, Lord,

Can you hear my heart?

It sings a song of love for you,

Says, ‘I will do my part,’

I’ll follow what you say, Lord,

My life to you I give,

Use me for thy great service,

So that others live,

As One in joyful union,

God’s Movement to bestow,

His Love to flow on through us,

His Will for All to know.

For those who read this poem now,

I’m witnessing to you,

Asking you to go inside,

Find my dear Friend so true.

He is a Friend for you, there,

He loves you as you are,

He sees you as created,

God’s point of light, His star.

In closing I do witness,

His love’s there to be known,

He is with you always,

You are not alone.
