Releasing Earthly Bonds

When age has come upon you,

Your younger years are gone,

You’ll find the bonds to earth there,

Are lessened, not so strong. 

You’ll find your grip relaxing,

A letting go, release,

Of all that’s seemed so vital,

Desires for them will cease. 

You’ll look at all your stuff there, 

It’s useless, had its day, 

It served its purpose long ago,

Now time to give away. 

Releasing earthly bonds there, 

Is more than ‘letting go,’

It’s preparing for your homeland,

A return to what you’ll know. 

You’ll recognize this new place, 

So familiar it will be, 

More homey there than what is here,  

And friends are there, you’ll see. 

I’m with you all the way, dear,

Let any fear subside, 

We’re joined as One forever, 

In peace, we do abide. 

Releasing earthly bonds, dear,

Means saying ‘Bye, Farewell,'

To others that you’ve known and loved, 

Your gratitude, you’ll tell. 

You’ve come to know Me well, there, 

We’ve shared so much as One,

Much more awaits our union,

In fact, we’ve just begun!

The end is but the beginning,

Of life eternally,

Each day’s a brand new start, dear, 

There’s joy with you and Me.

Release the earthly bonds, dear,

Our spiritual bond’s secure,

We’re bound as One, forever,

God’s love, it will endure. 

Right now I want to tell you,

To emphasize what you’ve known,

I love you dearly, always,

You are not alone!
