Memorial Day 2021

Memorial Day has come again, 

A time to pause, reflect,

On those who chose to give their lives,

We give them our respect. 

Lives given up in service, 

Those dead, now missed by all. 

Could they have served another way,

To further freedom’s call? 

We need to seek an answer,

To find a different way,

To stop the world’s differences,

To stop the kill display.

You say that wars will always be,

The differences too great,

Some will win and some will lose,

And death results from hate. 

God’s given us His meaning,

It’s right within each one,

Living love’s the answer,

To putting down the gun. 

Living love has power,

Hatred, it will subdue,

Will heal the greatest differences, 

See common ground come through. 

So on this day of remembrance, 

Let’s open our hearts wide, 

And ask that God’s true meaning,

Heals the great divide. 

Remember we are One there,

Includes this world and more,

Peace and joy the vision, 

Love opens up this door. 

In closing, let Me tell you,

I walk with you this day,

Now, and yes, forever, 

Love will light our way.
