In Sweet Remembrance
Lost and alone, you found me,
Alone and confused was I,
Searching for deeper meaning,
Alone, and wondering ‘Why?’
Why was my being empty?
Why did not things fulfill?
Why was I always looking?
For what would warm the chill,
Of the world’s empty promise,
A formula of greed,
Put forth for its own profit,
A hollow empty creed.
So there I was, a broken wretch,
A hungering yearning soul,
Pleading for the answer,
To what would make me whole.
Then there you were, Oh Jesus,
Before my eyes, so near,
Your love poured forth, and filled my heart,
With meaning, making clear,
That what I had been missing,
Was right there all along,
‘Twas living love from you, Lord,
Now Whole, I sing a song,
Of you, and love, and letting go,
Releasing all that’s old,
And welcoming the newness,
Of love, as it unfolds.
I will not go a moment, now,
Without holding fast, it’s true
You give my life its meaning, Lord,
I give my life to You.
