Time to Smell the Roses

Let’s go into town, dear,

You need a change of pace,

We’ll get the mail and groceries,

Perhaps have lunch some place.

A river stroll sounds nice, dear,

Fall foliage lines the trail,

Sprinkles might shower on us,

But sun-breaks will prevail.

Your minor aches and pains, dear,

Your arthritis in the knees,

Will benefit from movement,

Fresh air and gentle breeze.

The daily chores can wait, dear,

Let’s rest a day or two,

Time to smell the roses,

Take in the mountain view.

Open up to blessings,

As we go forth this day,

Living love will lead us,

Together, all the way.

That’s all you need to write, dear,

Right now this message’s done.

Let’s wear a light - weight jacket,

Let’s go and have some fun!

These closing words to readers,

To remind them what they’ve known,

“I love you and am with you,

You are not alone.”
