If Only

The time for letting go is soon,

For many of God’s own, 

And as they leave they come to know,

What seeds their lives have sown.

They look with sadness at the past,

For love they could have shown,

For chances missed to make a mark,

For ones left out or thrown,

Upon the heap marked ‘I don’t care,’

Abandoned there, alone.

And left as just some bits of life,

Encased in flesh and bone.  

With deep regret they feel the pain,

Of carelessness that set,

In motion blatant disregard, 

Left others needs unmet. 

“If only I had given more, 

To those who needed me. 

If only I had cared enough, 

How happy I would be.”

We come to know at Heaven’s gate

We are brothers, sisters, All, 

And what we do for others,

Is God’s greatest call. 

Let’s reach the gates of Heaven,

Knowing seeds of love were sown,

And that the others we did meet 

Were family, our own. 

No  more  ‘if onlys’ will be said,

For we have done our best,

To carry love into the world,

To help out all the rest.  

Open up your hearts, dears,

Let living love come through,

God gave you this as meaning,

His meaning, full and true. 

‘Tis others that we dwell on,

We are One you see,

God’s family together,

In peace and harmony. 

Do not fear death, my loved one,

For death could never be, 

You live forever in His Grace,

Throughout eternity. 

I will be there with you, 

Together we will see,

The gates of heaven open, 

How joyous it will be! 

I love you dearly as My Own,

We know each other well,

So hold My hand and let us go,

In joy, we gladly dwell.

And continue on the gifting, 

To others we will go,

and tell the news of Oneness,

So all will surely know,

The glory of our Father, 

The love that knows no wrong,

The rapture of His Presence,

The One eternal song.
